For The Coffee Craver

Some can’t start their morning right without its taste, while others enjoy it anytime during the day. Coffee; the beverage, hot or cold, that many love and that can easily bring people together in conversation. And in Lexington, you’ll find places that can match the sipping vibe you’re after.

The Haven Coffee House

Right off East Main in downtown, among the old brick buildings, you’ll find The Haven Coffee House. When you walk in, you are met with a rustic, lowkey elegant style with beautiful, exposed brick on the walls. The soft lighting and colors welcome you in to relax. They carry a Brazilian roast from Coffee Cabana that comes from the Cerrado region of Brazil and is naturally dried.

For brews they have drip coffee, iced coffee, and espresso along with lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, and your other usual types of coffee. Not only do they have coffee but they also have desserts from local favorite Nonnah’s, originally located in downtown Columbia. You can explore their variety of cakes and pies along with different flavors of ice cream. They also have tasty meal options like avocado toast, BLTs, breakfast sandwiches, salads and wraps.

Second Wave Coffee and Books

For the family that needs a fun place for the kids while you sip your brew of choice, stop by Second Wave Coffee and Books. When you pull in, you are greeted by a fun, relaxing hang out space outside with picnic tables, firepits surrounded by chairs, and many games like corn hole, giant tic-tactoe, and giant connectfour. The inside gives a casually comfortable vibe making it a good, quiet place to sit and work or chat with a friend. You can also find a cozy little book nook where you can sit and read a book or you can buy or borrow a book. Second Wave gets their coffee from local roastery Loveland Coffee, an Artisan style roast. This coffee shop is an extension of The Arc of the Midlands Thrift, a local ministry thrift store located right up the street. Their goal is to achieve full community life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They also hold events like movie nights, bingo, and occasionally some live music.         View this post on Instagram

Krafty Koffee

If you are over in the West Lexington area and you just want a unique cup of coffee on the go, drive to Krafty Koffee. They are a drive through kiosk with more flavors and different types of coffee than any other place around. It is also home to Lake Murray Coffee Roasters that gets organic, fair trade certified beans from around the world. The origin of your cup of coffee changes each day. Sometimes it will be from Nicaragua, Guatemala, Puru, Honduras or many other places. When you pull up to the second window, be sure to look inside for a bright mural inspired by the owner’s trip to Nicaragua. It depicts each stage of a bean starting as a coffee cherry being picked to be dried and making its way to your coffee cup.
