Young Pro On the Go - Budget Blinds of Lexington

Having been a mainstay as an ambassador in the Greater Lexington Chamber and also Young Professional of the Year, Chris Petty knows the ins and outs of the Lexington business community. So when he opened Budget Blinds back in the spring, he was confident the business would be a success.

“I chose Lexington County because I've called Lexington home for the last four years,” Petty said. “As an Ambassador for the Chamber, I've seen firsthand the value that the chamber can provide to area businesses and the value businesses add to our community.”

Budget Blinds of Lexington offers business and residential customers in the community custom window treatments, including Plantation Shutters, Wood Blinds, and custom drapery. And the company, which recently celebrated its Chamber membership with a ribbon cutting ceremony, is able to provide top-of-the-line products at lower prices.

“Because Budget Blinds is so large and we don't have showrooms, we are able to keep our costs low and provide our customers with things like our "5 year No Questions Asked Warranty" where we will replace a damaged product one time without asking why the product is damaged,” said Petty, who is the lone employee. “Of course, our vendors offer a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty, but we take it a step above with the extra warranty.”

Petty’s plans include continuing to grow his business and hopefully bringing on additional employees as needed. He believes his first employee will be an installer, and if the first few months are any indication, Petty is well on his way to needing some help.

“The first few months have absolutely exploded,” he said. “Never in a million years did I anticipate that I would be doing the level of volume that I’m doing.”

So business is good, and it’s also rewarding.

“The most gratifying thing about my work is being able to help the residents of Lexington by solving their problems such as too much light in a room, privacy, or helping to block the fading effects of the sun on furniture, rugs, and flooring,” said Petty, who served in the Army for six years, two in the SC National Guard and four years active duty.

“Budget Blinds of Lexington is a veteran owned business and offers discounts for active duty, retired and veterans of our Armed Forces,” Petty said. “In addition, we also are a part of the member-to-member discount program through the Lexington Chamber.”
