The New Burger in Town - Smashburger

There’s a new burger in town.

Smashburger recently joined the Greater Lexington Chamber and celebrated its membership with a ribbon cutting ceremony before opening its doors to the public on June 1.

“We started 11 years ago with Moe’s locations in Columbia and grew to Augusta and Charlotte,” said Chris Smith, a franchise partner with CSC Seven LLC. “Three years ago, we started opening Smashburger locations in the Greater Columbia/Lexington Area and Charlotte.”

The Lexington location at 5449 Sunset Boulevard employs 40 people.

“Lexington just continues to grow and grow with more residential, more schools, and more commercial business coming to the area,” said Smith, who aims to have 50 stores by the age of 50.

One thing that sets Smashburger apart from the competition is the menu, which includes the Classic Smash, the Buffalo and Blue Cheese burger, and the Avocado Club. You can also choose from the BBQ Bacon and Cheddar burger, the Bacon Cheeseburger, the Spicy Jalapeno Baja burger, the Truffle Mushroom Swiss burger and more. The restaurant also offers some unique selections of salads, fries and other sides, along with delicious desserts.

“The word ‘gourmet’ is over-used these days, but Smashburger is like getting a well-crafted gourmet burger in a fast-casual environment. We use only 100% Angus ground beef, and the searing process we use locks in the flavor,” Smith said. “We distinguish ourselves from other better-burger concepts by also offering kids’ meals, fresh salads, Smashchicken, and delicious, hand-crafted Haagen-Dazs Milkshakes.”

According to Smith, the most gratifying thing about the job is “creating opportunities for our employees to turn a job into a career.”

Smashburger is also excited to announce a charitable partnership with Children’s Chance of South Carolina. This organization, which serves many families in the Lexington area, assists families dealing with pediatric cancer.
