One of Lexington’s most unique businesses has joined the Greater Lexington Chamber and recently celebrated its membership with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Stormseeker Military Surplus, located at 130 B Wing Hill Drive in Lexington, carries new and used official military surplus gear and clothing, including hats, gloves, helmets, boots, belts, vests, ballistic glasses and goggles, ruck sacks, 3-day packs and pouches by the thousands. The store carries an estimated 50,000-70,000 total items.

“We specialize in Multicam camouflage clothing and gear,” owner J. Steven McAbee said. “We have some of best prices in the US on some hard to get items.”

Stormseeker Military Surplus employs three people and has been in business for two years. McAbee said he located in Lexington County due to the affordable warehouse space. He has a lease running through September of 2017, and he plans to continue selling surplus.

The most gratifying thing about the job would be helping Lexington County SWAT get new uniforms and provide them with first-aid kits, according to McAbee, who said he’s a big supporter of local law enforcement. He would like to see other Chamber members get involved in an effort to supply first-aid kits to all officers, who are in harm’s every day.

“Society as we know it would not exist if there were not men and women risking their lives keeping bad/evil people in our society away from us,” McAbee said. “No police equals no commerce.”
