Palmetto Athletic Center: A Lexington Staple

May 17, 2017 | Posted By: [email protected]

After 20 years of business, Palmetto Athletic Center(PAC) is a staple in the Lexington community. PAC is well known among families with children. Their after-school care, gymnastics and tumbling programs have
been voted the Best of Lexington several times running.

The 22,000 square-foot facility is located just off North Lake Drive in Lexington. PAC offers a multitude of programs; everything from music lessons, Zumba
for kids, dodgeball and tutoring all the way to competitive Junior Olympic Gymnastics. For family time, PAC offers parent/child
classes. Need a date night? PAC has you covered! Friday nights from 6:30 until 9:30, parents can bring their kids ages 3-13 for an evening filled with
fun activities in a safe and friendly environment.

After 20 years, PAC is still bringing new programs to Lexington (look for the new Ninja program coming this fall) and continues to grow, adding new schools
to the routes for next year.

Children are obviously the focus at PAC. General Manager Ashlea Collins loves seeing kids accomplish goals and gain new skills. “The things that children
say are some of the funniest things you will hear,” said Collins. Even though Collins and the other 40 employees at PAC work hard to teach children,
they also take the time to learn from them as well. Collins said that being in this business has taught her a lot, especially patience. “When working
with the public, children and employees showing patience is difficult at times,” she said. “I have learned that a little patience goes a long way in
achieving extraordinary business practices and childcare. I have also learned that a child’s laughter can cure pretty much any bad day.”
