Lexington Chamber Calls Community To Celebrate National Invest In Veterans Week
LEXINGTON, SC – The Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center is asking the Midlands community to support veteran owned businesses during
National Invest In Veterans Week, March 1-7.
Established in 2019, Invest In Veterans Week is meant to honor aspiring and established veteran business owners and their contributions to the economy.
Community members and organizations can observe this week by:
- promoting veteran owned businesses on social media.
- buying from veteran owned businesses.
- hosting a workshop for aspiring veteran entrepreneurs.
- nurturing veteran startups – grants, fundraisers, complimentary services.
- partnering with a veteran owned business.
- mentoring a veteran entrepreneur.
- promoting National Invest In Veterans Week via social media using #nationalinvestinveteransweek.
The Chamber will be celebrating veteran business owners throughout the week on social media and lexingtonsc.org.
According to the Small Business Administration, small business firms owned by veterans have employed 5.03 million people, had an annual payroll of $195
billion and receipts of $1.14 trillion. Representing only 9.1 percent of all U.S. businesses, veterans have an unquestionable invaluable impact on
economic ecosystems nationwide.
“Veteran owned businesses are making a significant impact economically,” said Chamber President and CEO Angelle LaBorde, CCE. “It’s important for the community
to show its support and appreciation for their service in the armed forces and for their leadership as small business owners.”
