Lexington County, S.C.: Leadership Lexington County is excited to announce the availability of applications for the upcoming Class of 2017. In its 23rd year, the non-profit organization seeks to provide leaders from a wide range of local organizations, agencies, and businesses an opportunity to learn about and explore past and current issues facing Lexington County.

Leadership Lexington County is interested in candidates that have a desire to enhance and refine their leadership abilities while participating in a six-month exploration of county and municipal governments, public safety, political systems, businesses, economic development, finance and much, much more. Individuals should be emerging or existing leaders looking to continue their leadership development and committed to making a difference in Lexington County.

Additionally, this program provides enrichment activities and behind the scenes tours of key facilities within the county. Recently, classes have had the opportunity to meet leaders and take site tours of Amazon’s Distribution Center, Nephron Pharmaceuticals, Lake Murray Dam, WP Rawls Farms, Lexington Medical Center, River Bluff High School, CMC Steel and other locations that make Lexington County great. Leadership Lexington County provides participants with fantastic professional development opportunities as they learn about the county and network with the other class participants and leaders throughout Lexington County. Class participants may arrive as strangers, but they leave as life-long friends.

Participants will also leave a lasting mark on the community, with every class participating in a class project. In recent years, classes have renovated the Village Square Theater in Lexington, made improvements at Camp Kinard in Batesburg-Leesville, constructed a 9/11 Memorial outside the Lexington County Administrative Building, and made improvements at various non-profit shelters providing care to victims of Domestic Violence. Giving of one’s time, talents, and heart is at the very core of every successful Leadership Lexington graduate.
