Helping Local Artist Succeed - White Rose Artisan Boutique
White Rose Artisans Boutique has been in business for a year and a half, but just recently joined the Greater Lexington Chamber and celebrated its membership with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Located at 831 Meeting Street in West Columbia, White Rose Artisans Boutique is the fourth business Martha Wise has owned in Lexington County, a place she has called home since she was five years old.
“I love meeting all of the artists and artisans and seeing their work,” Wise said. “They are all wonderful people and work so hard at what they do. I love showing off their work to our customers.”
Customers can expect to find artwork, photography, jewelry, pottery, woodworking, yard art and more. The boutique also carries antiques and furniture, including a beautiful Victorian cabinet with milk paint and a reclaimed wood chopping block/wine rack on wheels. White Rose also has a lot of hand-crafted products and collectibles, as well as unique eclectic gift items and clothing.
“I have always loved retail and fashion, hence my other three retail businesses,” said Wise, who has one employee. “I always enjoy seeing what eclectic and cool things that people come up with and make. I like to see our local artists be successful.”
Wise has been a successful businesswoman in the area, owning three previous businesses. The first was The Vintage Rose, a vintage clothing store. When that business relocated, Wise changed it to Vintage Rose Western Wear and Tack. For the past 14 years, Wise has owned and operated The Wise Insurance Agency, which she sold in December.
The plan for the future is to continue displaying artisans’ work, as well as adding more antique and eclectic items to the shop. Wise would also like to find more artisans to display their work at White Rose.
“We support local business and local artisans,” said Wise, who is proud to support green products and be eco-friendly. “If you know of someone who is a talented artist or artisan, please tell them about White Rose Artisans Boutique, as we are always looking for new eclectic and unique items.”
