The idea that massages are just for people with back or neck pain is a misnomer, and one Lexington business is prepared to show you why.

“We provide services for everyone. If you have health related issues, massage therapy can help,” said Dawn Ridge, who owns and operates Dawn of Your Wellness. “Sports injuries, we work on those too. Nutritional health, weight-loss, anti-aging, and aromatherapy....we've got something for everyone.”

Dawn of Your Wellness, located at 3357 Leaphart Road in West Columbia, recently celebrated its Greater Lexington Chamber membership with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Ridge, who relocated to Lexington with the S.C. Department of Corrections, has been running her massage business for more than five years, and she is planning on continued growth.

“I would love to grow this business on many levels with more massage therapists joining in to work towards giving back to the community that supports us,” said Ridge, who is a licensed massage therapist, as well as a Reiki Master and Nutritional Consultant. “I eventually would like to see instructors use our facility for continuing education seminars, since there really isn't a venue for this in the Columbia area.”

Dawn of Your Wellness offers a wide variety of services, ranging from aromatherapy to nutritional cleansing programs. According to Ridge, they specialize in Oncology Massage, A.C.E. Massage Cupping, Reiki, Pregnancy Massage and Fertility Massage, as well as Neuromuscular, Migraine, Deep Tissue, Hot Stone and Swedish.

“We take pride in all of our services and the diversity of modalities that are offered,” Ridge said. “We are geared more towards a medical side of the healing process instead of a spa type business, although, you get a warm energetic feel when you enter the door.”

Ridge said her clientele are the most gratifying part of her job.

“I have some of the most loyal and dedicated clients around. I pride myself in taking time with each of them on a level to make sure that their needs are being met therapeutically,” she said. “We want people not to just enjoy a massage because it’s relaxing, but enjoy the longevity of benefits of Massage Therapy sessions. When you can see people come in and are in obvious pain, leave the table pain-free....that makes your day!”
