Breakfast speaker spotlight: Joe Mergo, County Administrator
Joe Mergo, Lexington County Administrator, will be the keynote speaker at the Chamber’s breakfast meeting on Tuesday, April 10 at 7:30 a.m. at RADIUS Church. This breakfast is sponsored by Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative.
Prior to becoming Administrator, Joe served as Chief Court Administrator for the Magistrates, Assistant Director of Solid Waste, Director of Solid
Waste and Director of Animal Services and Deputy County Administrator. He has served as County Administrator since 2012.
In addition to his various positions with Lexington County, Mergo also served on several boards within the community, including Leader Lexington County
and Keep the Midlands Beautiful. He currently serves on the board of the Central Midlands Council of Governments, Midlands Authority for Conventions,
Sports & Tourism and the United Way of The Midlands Campaign Committee. He is also an ex-officio board member for the Greater Lexington Chamber
and Visitors Center.
Mergo’s other roles during his career include being Assistant Head Coach for the Airport High School Varsity Baseball Team in 2005 and also Head Coach
for the Airport High School Junior Varsity Baseball Team from 2006-2008. He also worked as a high school basketball referee from 1994-2006.
Mergo graduated from the University of South Carolina with a double major in Management & Marketing in 1995.
Joe lives in Lexington with his wife Nikole and their 3 boys, Parker, Paxton and Paiden.
Breakfasts meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month and are $8 or can be attended with the purchase of an annual breakfast card.
