Breakfast Recap: The 4 Things You Need To Care About
Who cares? That was the topic of this month’s Business Over Breakfast, sponsored by Splash Omnimedia.
Todd Carnes, partner at Todd Realty Partners and council member with the Town of Lexington, explained that there are so many issues that concern us today, but we must choose the few things we care about. He shared his four areas of choice, commerce, education, religion and politics. As a Town Council Member, Todd has learned sacrificing the truth for power is not the way to win. The cost of suppressing the truth impacts the society and will tear down what we have worked so hard to build.
Maintaining fairness in commerce preserves the integrity of the community. While on mission in Russia, Todd discovered what it means to lose faith in commerce. Violence is brought on by the lack of integrity and faith in society. The community creates the environment, and that environment creates values. Short term decision making may be easy, but we must make the hard long-term decisions to impact the next generation to continue building a nation that will stand strong.
Todd ended his talk with a quote by Harriet Beecher Stowe: The bitterest tears shed over graves are for words left unsaid and deeds left undone.
