A local, family-owned business, which has been a mainstay in the Midlands for the past 51 years, recently celebrated its Greater Lexington Chamber membership with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Ace Glass Company, founded by Fred L. Price Sr. in 1964, originally opened its doors for business at 2729 Two Notch Road in Columbia. Price, who started working in the glass business at age 17 in 1939, brought the company to Lexington in 1979. Today, there is a third location in Irmo.

The business was brought to Lexington in an effort to “take advantage of the growth of Lexington County,” according to Sales and Marketing Manager Lauren Gillespie, who is Price’s granddaughter.

The Lexington store is located at 4661 Augusta Road, and the phone number is 803-356-3505. The company employs 48 people at the three locations.

“We are a full service glass company specializing in auto, residential and commercial glass,” said Gillespie, whose grandfather died in 2011 after 71 years of service in the glass business. “It’s exciting to see a happy customer with their new glass that we installed.”

Ace Glass will replace glass in vehicles, including service on domestic and foreign cars, trucks, vans and commercial vehicles, all at your convenience. Ace is also able to help customers with residential needs like tabletops, mirrors and shower doors.

Commercial glass work is another specialty of Ace Glass, including 24-hour emergency service, structural glass, transoms, framing systems, entrance doors, store fronts, and even architectural windows and curtain wall.

“We cut, polish and bevel all of our glass in house, and we also make our own insulated glass replacement units so it’s a faster turnaround time for the customer,” Gillespie said.
