We are a family owned and operated business that started out in a gas station parking lot over 50 years ago, with only a few used cars.  Dick Smith was approach by Nissan, then Datsun.  He decided to open his first Datsun dealership on West Beltline Boulevard where it remained for about four decades before moving to Two Notch Road.  A native of Belton, Dick Smith graduated from Belton High School.  He attended The Apprentice School operated by the Newport News Shipbuilding Company  in Newport News Virginia.  Dick Smith joined the Navy and served his country for 3 years during World War II.  When he returned home, he attended Clemson University and earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering.  Today his legacy continues in his children and grandchildren. Dick treated you like family, and that is the legacy we want you to experience today. 

Dick Smith currently has 7 dealerships.  In the Columbia area these are Dick Smith Nissan in Lexington, Dick Smith Nissan St. Andrews, Dick Smith Nissan Northeast, and Dick Smith Ford off Garners Ferry Road.  In Greenville, we have 3 dealerships, Dick Smith Hyundai, Dick Smith Genesis and Dick Smith Mitsubishi and in Monks Corner near Charleston SC, we have  Dick Smith Chevrolet.
