Event Details

Families and school groups with unique and special needs are invited to share these evenings at the museum with others facing similar challenges in a safe, understanding environment.

Each night features a different storybook theme and includes sensory friendly showings in the 4D theater and planetarium.

Museum general admission on this evening is FREE for children and students with special needs and ONE adult. General admission for additional adults in your party is $8.95. Planetarium and 4D shows are $3 each.

Guests are encouraged to bring equipment including wheelchairs, walkers, noise reducing headphones, and other technology.

Schedule:

August 13 - Curious George
At 6 p.m. meet Curious George as we have a story-time read-a-long to the book, “Curious George’s First Day of School.” We’ll also create Pencil Pals during a hands-on adaptive art class.

Sept. 10 - Taco Dragon
At 6 p.m. meet Taco Dragon as we have a story-time read-a-long to the book, “Dragons Love Tacos.” We’ll also createPaper Plate Tacos during a hands-on adaptive art class.

Oct. 8 - Corduroy
At 6 p.m. meet Corduroy as we have a story-time read-a-long to the book, “Corduroy’s Best Halloween.” We’ll also create Witch Goo & Melt-a-Witch during a hands-on adaptive art class.

Nov. 12 - Llama Llama
At 6 p.m. meet Llama Llama as we have a story-time read-a-long to the book, “Llama Llama Gives Thanks.” We’ll also create Turkey Hats during a hands-on adaptive art class.

Dec. 10 - Madeline
At 6 p.m. meet Madeline as we have a story-time read-a-long to the book, “Madeline’s Christmas.” We’ll also create LED Holiday Cards during a hands-on adaptive art class.
