Local Volunteers Take Action to Clean, Restore and Renew Lexington County

Columbia, SC – Keep South Carolina Beautiful and its parent organization PalmettoPride will host a community cleanup in Lexington County on Saturday, April
21, 2018, along Meadowfield Road in Gaston. Lexington County residents are encouraged to participate in the fellowship and fun of this important community
improvement event.

“Taking part in this cleanup, or any cleanup in your community means we are moving towards a cleaner, greener and more beautiful South Carolina,” stated,
Mallory Biering, KSCB Director. “Show pride and volunteer by helping us kick off this great initiative.”

The event will begin 8:00 a.m. at Sandhills Middle School. Cleanup and safety supplies will be provided the day of the event during check in. Volunteers
must be 13 or older to participate in this event, and anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present throughout the cleanup.
Lunch will be served following the cleanup.

This event will serve as the organizations’ official Great American Cleanup of South Carolina event. Since 2001, more than 90 million pounds of trash
have been picked up during the Great American Cleanup of South Carolina. Nearly two million volunteers have joined this effort.

For the past 20 years, The Great American Cleanup takes place annually in an estimated 20,000 communities nationwide, and engages more than 5 million
volunteers and participants every year to create a positive and lasting impact. PalmettoPride & KSCB plan volunteer events and education programs
to remove litter and debris, improve recycling and beautify communities throughout South Carolina.

For more information about this cleanup or to sign up, please contact Mallory Biering at [email protected] or 803-758-6034.
