Lexington’s One-Way Pair Project Goes Live June 23

The Town of Lexington announced that it’s SC-6 One-Way Pair Project will go into effect on Saturday, June 23. This is the first traffic and tourism project
funded by the two percent Hospitality Tax.

Construction began in October 2017 and will be finalized in July 2018. The total cost of the nine-month project is $2.1 million.

In a release, town officials state the purpose of the project is to make the intersection of Main Street at Lake Drive flow more efficiently. By splitting
the northbound and southbound movements, the signals at Lake Drive and Church Street can service twice as many vehicles as it does today. This increase
in efficiency will allow more green signal time to be allotted to east and west Main Street at Lake Drive and Church Street.

According to the video below, 17,000 vehicles per day travel Main Street, 12,500 vehicles per day travel Lake Drive and 3,500 vehicles per day travel Church
Street.

Additional updates concerning construction, road closures and traffic safety will be issued by the Lexington Police Department and shared on various social
media pages.
