Lexington’s Midsummer Festival Enters Third Season
August 9, 2017 | Posted By: Connor Watkins
Don’t tell the attendees of Lexington Midsummer Festival that the suburbs
are an unlikely place for a music festival. In past years the festival has brought in bluegrass prodigies Sierra Hull and Justin Moses, fourteen-time
GRAMMY winner Ron Block (of Alison Krauss and Union Station), two-time GRAMMY nominee singer/songwriter Cindy Morgan, and folk/gospel singer Sandra
McCracken. This year’s festival will be headlined by folk rockers Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors. Also appearing are local South Carolina bands Prettier
than Matt, The Post-Timey String Band, and Slim Pickens.
Admission to the local stage and food truck area are free as in past years, while tickets to the heading concert with Drew Holcomb are $12 in advance and
$15 at the door. This year’s festival will take place at Lexington’s Icehouse Amphitheater. Visit www.midsummerfestival.org

“We understand an evening of shared food and music to be an investment in the flourishing of our town and community.” said festival promoter Tim Nicholson.
“In uniting businesses, schools, and churches to sponsor an event like this we hope to see businesses, artists, and relationships prosper."
The 2017 Midsummer Festival is sponsored by Lexington Presbyterian Church, Radius Church, the Lexington School of Music, and Kohl’s department store. This
year’s festival will include:
- A local stage featuring free performances from local SC bands
- A food truck fair featuring food trucks from around South Carolina
- A headliner concert with Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors beginning at 8:00 p.m.
About Drew Holcomb: Equal parts folk singer, roots rocker, country crooner, and pop-hook provider, Nashville based, Memphis born Drew
Holcomb blurs the lines between genres. His band's rootsy songs are more rustic than ever before, laced with harmonica, upright bass, and banjo. The
rockers are downright electrifying, from searing guitar solos that carve a lightning-shaped streak to emotionally-charged duets. Drew Holcomb and the
Neighbors have played over 2,000 concert dates in 7 countries and at many festivals, including: Bonnaroo, Hangout Music Fest, Forecastle, Voodoo Experience,
and more. Their songs have also received over 50 TV placements, including How I Met Your Mother, Parenthood, Criminal Minds, Nashville, and House.
