It’s Time to ACT on COVID-19 Immunity Legislation
Show Your Support by 3/26 and Communicate with Your Legislators
The Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center continues to monitor issues and pro-business legislation important to facilitating a strong business climate. Recently, the Advocacy / Public Policy Committee recommended support of the COVID-19 Liability Protections (Senate Bill 147) and the Chamber’s Board of Directors concurred.
As you know, employers in South Carolina are continuing to deal with incredible challenges during these uncertain times. South Carolina needs to join the vast majority of states that are protecting employers who are attempting in good faith to follow public health guidance from the threat of unwarranted lawsuits. Senate Bill 147 will make a real difference in helping South Carolina employers regain confidence and get back on track toward reviving our economy.
The SC Chamber of Commerce has organized a letter of support for the passage of the federal COVID Liability Protection legislation and similar state-level liability protection bill (S.147) is now moving forward. Consider adding your name to those who are supporting this important legislation.
Over 250 businesses and organizations signed on to the SC Chamber’s federal letter. Their goal is to match or even exceed that number for the state letter. To pass this bill, we must show the South Carolina General Assembly that this bill is critical to get our economy back on track.
S. 147 will give immunity to employers that follow public health guidance dating back to the beginning of the pandemic. The SC Senate passed S. 147 in February, and we need the House to follow through next. You can sign on to our letter here through Friday, March 26.
Your participation is sincerely appreciated. In advance, thank you for your investment in the Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center.
