Breakfast Recap: New Digital Resource For Midlands Entrepreneurs

Will Schenk, Project Manager with Engenuity SC, unveiled a new web-based initiative, Innovate Columbia,
at this month’s breakfast meeting sponsored by Budget Blinds of Lexington and Chapin. The group has created a one-stop shop of entrepreneurial resources
designed to guide a potential new business owner through all the steps needed to be successful. 

The Midlands Business Leadership Group (MBLG) has over 20 years of experience with business leaders. By creating the Regional Competitiveness Initiative,
MBLG defined top issues for the Midlands area with 25 initiatives prioritized into seven development regions. One of these issues was resources for
a start-up business. While we have plenty of resources in the Midlands area, they are scattered.

After much discussion with people already in the field of business development, research and data collection through over 40 resources and shopping for
a physical location, the organization moved forward with the online platform.

Innovate Columbia SC through event sharing and testimonials is a place where companies will get a positive impression of our region. Up to date information
and support from key companies, Nephron Pharmaceuticals and BlueCross BlueShield of SC, will keep this area healthy and growing.

EngenuitySC will be unveiling its next initiative, Capture Columbia, in summer 2021 that will provide interns opportunities that will keep and bring talent
to the Midlands.
